Everyone Deserves A Healthy Smile!
So many members of our community are facing economic challenges - it’s hard to know where to even begin to help...
At the Children’s Dental Health Clinic, we are here to provide support when those challenges limit a family’s ability to prioritize and pay for oral health care for their children. We are dedicated to providing access to the comprehensive, quality dental care everyone deserves - and we have been since 1932!
For those of us who have experienced any kind of mouth pain, we all know how debilitating it can be, impacting our physical and mental wellbeing. Imagine what it is like for those who struggle with access to care for any number of reasons... we are proud of the strides we’ve made in expanding access to care and improving the patient experience given the challenges we face in today’s healthcare landscape. As a nonprofit dental clinic and specialty care resource, we provide specialized oral health care services, including community outreach and education, to more than 5,500 economically disadvantaged children and families each year, but we can't do it without you! Public insurance programs only cover a portion of the cost of care. That's why we need generous people like you to help us continue our nearly 100-year history of being a beacon of care and compassion for so many.
When you support us during Long Beach Gives - or any other time - you are giving children and families:
- Five dental kits at local health and wellness fairs with your $25 donation
- An oral hygiene visit and screening at our Oral Health Education Center with your $50 donation
- A specialized cleaning from one of our pediatric dental residents with your $75 donation
- A consultation with an oral surgeon as a child begins their journey to smile reconstruction with your $100 donation
- An orthodontic retainer for a teen after their braces are removed - helping to maintain their beautiful new smile - with your $250 donation
- Two visits for comprehensive oral health care with your $500 donation
A Smile That's Fighting to Shine: Leo's Story
Leo is a brave three-year-old who was diagnosed with leukemia. While undergoing chemotherapy at Miller Children's and Women's Hospital, our dental resident Dr. Grace saw that his oral health was in need of urgent care to prevent complications that could interfere with his cancer treatment.
Leo’s mom was overwhelmed, trying to navigate his medical needs, and now worrying about his dental care. That’s when she was referred to our dental clinic.
Thanks to the support of people like you, we were able to schedule Leo with our expert team. Now, he receives the care he needs to stay healthy and continue his chemotherapy without added risks from dental infections.
When you join us in changing lives - one smile at a time - your support helps children like Leo receive critical dental treatment, while giving his mom one less thing to worry about!
