ABOUT LONG BEACH SPAY AND NEUTER FOUNDATION: Operating since 1997, and formally established as a non-profit in 2004, Long Beach Spay and Neuter Foundation (LBSN) is committed to improving the welfare of animals in greater Long Beach, California. We are a 100% all volunteer-based organization, that operates solely on donations from generous community members. We provide a full range of services, including, spay/neuter, veterinary care for injured animals, Trap-Neuter-Return-Monitor (TNRM) of feral cats, and adoption of tame cats/kittens into safe loving homes. We operate a foster program, provide community support, education, and advocacy.

LBSN has also been at the for-front of transforming Long Beach into a no-kill city for all healthy and treatable animals. Since 2008, we have been advocating for Long Beach shelter reform. We look forward to the day, when our city shelter is able to implement the fundamental lifesaving programs, and can be viewed as progressive model shelter.

LBSN partners with low cost veterinarians to provide early, low cost spay and neuter to prevent more animals being born on the streets and into unsuitable conditions. We have fixed over 20,000 animals, which has resulted in a huge reduction in animal intakes at our city shelter. LBSN also funds a significant volume of animal emergency veterinary procedures. These animals would otherwise go without care or have to be euthanized.

LBSN prides itself on being fiscal responsibility. We have operated for over 20 years with no paid staff. We provide as much medical care independently, to maximize funds, and ensure donations go directly to surgical procedures. In 2020, we facilitated the fixing of over 1,000 animals, which has prevented the births of over 20,000 puppies and kittens. Any tame cat found in an undesirable situation is removed from the streets and placed in our foster program. This year to date, we have adopted out 720 animals, and funded surgeries for over 250 animals that otherwise would have been left on the streets suffering from injuries.

We are grateful to the Long Beach community that with their financial generosity and support, have enabled us to save thousands of animals, and prevent animals being surrendered to our local shelter.

These folks go above and beyond...I fell in love with a little kitty at one of their adoption events... I was going on vacation, they kept her in foster care, which was an amazing home with such love, brought her to me with all the supplies I'd ever need, even trimmed her nails for me! Without LBSN's help, these cats would have suffered a sad fate. Heat alone almost killed the mama.
