Our foundation has stepped up during the pandemic for the Long Beach communities. Proctor and Gamble donated shampoo, deodorant , batteries, blankets, shaving cream, body soap and lotion for us to distribute for them.
With those donations we were able to support families that had their wages affected by covid-19, or they no longer had employment or any income, through some dark and hard times. We were able to distribute heavy jackets in the winter to those who could not afford the expense.
One program we are excited to roll out is the Defend Eloteros movement, inspired by the many recent street vender robberies and attacks. We handed out pepper spray and ppe to hundreds of street venders in the Long Beach, as well as LA county. We have another program with no official name yet, where we raffle off used family vehicles to single mothers and fathers, and individuals who are in great need to further themselves and get ahead in life. We pick a well deserved family from Long Beach, who is just striving for a better future. We wish to spread hope, confidence, and a brighter future.
We believe Local Hearts Foundation benefits Long Beach and its residences by giving school supplies, turkeys, and warm winter clothes. Toys, shoes and clothing are handed out at our turkey event. We offer safe alternatives for children to keep them safe and motivate them to stay away from drugs, and gangs. At most of our events we have counselors and mental health workers volunteering their knowledge and compassion to our attendees. These children we hand toys out to wind up coming back and volunteering at our events to bless others like they were blessed.
Jesse and his 5 daughters have been a huge inspiration for us at Local Hearts. Seeing them grow and prosper with the help of our foundations volunteers and contributors has been an amazing journey. We have shared in this familys expierences of gaining financial stability, acquiring permanent transportation issues, correcting living arrangements, and receiving specialty programs designed to help there family continue to develop in a safe, healthy, and loving way.
We would like to make a notable difference in lives of the kids who reside in underserved and under resourced communities of Long Beach. By promoting education as being key to a great future. By reaching out to the neglected communities we strive to inspire the youth to aim for and achieve their goals and aspirations.
