Information is power
It belongs in the hands of the people.
The Long Beach Post provides independent reporting that explains how city government, schools, housing and public safety affect our lives. Our newsroom works every day to give the public clear, reliable information that would not exist without community support.
This year's campaign: Growing education coverage

With more than 130,000 students enrolled in our schools and colleges, education touches every household, neighborhood and taxpayer in Long Beach.
The stakes are huge. Behind every classroom are billion-dollar budgets, bond measures, and policies that determine who gets access and opportunity. Every policy decision ripples into access, equity, and opportunity for students.
That’s why the Long Beach Post this month launched a dedicated education beat: to bring accountability to schools and context to readers and taxpayers about how their dollars are being used, ensuring that the promise of education is kept for all.
Together, we can connect the dots between classrooms and future success, between bond measures and playgrounds, between policy and real lives.
‼️ SECOND CHALLENGE MATCH: We already met an initial challenge match of $5,000 from Long Beach resident Dennis Paulsen. Another donor has stepped to offer a second match of $2,500 — and we have only 24 hours to rise to this challenge.
Now is the time to show your support for local news and the value it brings to Long Beach.
