Referrals of young teens to For The Child have increased dramatically in the post-pandemic years. Sex crimes from social media predators have increased, as have young teens with anxiety, depression, and even suicidal behaviors. The new Teen Center, opening in early 2025, expands the child abuse program and will add 2,299 square feet to FTC’s headquarters. In honor of the John Gogian Family Foundation’s lead gift, the expansion will be named the John Gogian Teen and Family Center. It will include a separate entrance; teen friendly waiting area; two group/training rooms for teen groups, parent workshops, and intern trainings; and, five additional therapy offices.
The funds I raise will be used for therapy supplies and mental health care for uninsured teens from low income families to support their recovery from trauma. The new teen center will also help establish health care coverage for eligible teens, overcoming barriers.
