The Child Development Center (CDC) and Learning Lab offer half-day and full-day preschool programs for children ages 2-5. The Center serves children of students, faculty, staff and the community, with locations at both the Liberal Arts Campus and the Pacific Coast Campus open year-round.

Operated in partnership with the College’s Child Development Department, the Center follows best practices for early childhood education based on years of professional experience, as well as the latest research and technology. Toddlers and preschoolers benefit from activities and interaction in an engaging environment that fosters positive social growth, relationships and the joy of learning. Center staff includes dedicated student teachers specializing in early childhood education.

Long Beach City College Child Development Centers are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff. To maintain our high standards of preparedness, we are currently fundraising to upgrade and enhance our on-site first aid kits and emergency supplies. The importance of being prepared cannot be overstated, as it allows us to respond swiftly and effectively in case of any emergency. Our centers diligently practice monthly evacuation/fire drills, earthquake drills, and shelter-in-place drills with children to ensure that everyone knows the necessary steps to take in a crisis. Each classroom is equipped with a red backpack filled with essential emergency supplies, but the contents of these kits will soon expire and need to be replenished.

To continue our commitment to safety, we are designating funds from Long Beach Gives to keep our centers fully prepared for any situation. Your support will help us ensure that our students and staff are always protected and ready to face emergencies with confidence.
