One of the reasons I joined CCEJ’s staff more than 6 years ago is the work that we’re doing to share Restorative Justice tools and processes to address conflict in people-centered (rather than punishment-centered) ways. Not that many orgs were doing this work in 2018, and while there’s more now, we’re still one of just a few.
Conflict is messy and hard, but also inevitable. CCEJ’s Restorative Justice conflict facilitation helps people express themselves vulnerably and openly in order to build connection and understanding. We use RJ tools to divert 100 youth from the criminal legal system each year, and we train thousands of adults on how they can use RJ to create more healthy cultures of accountability at their schools and workplaces.
Your donation to my modest fundraiser will more than likely pay for pizza for Circles (people need to eat when they’re feeling hard feelings!) - but it’s meaningful to have your support for this work. There’s a lot of skepticism about whether “Restorative Justice” is an effective approach - I believe it is, and so do the people we serve and train. Everyone deserves a second chance to make things right - because transformation is always possible.
