Did you know that 1 in 5 Californians — or 8 million people — do not know where their next meal will come from?
Farm Lot 59 is a woman-founded and led nonprofit urban farm that targets food insecurity in Long Beach. With the help of volunteers and paid staff each week Farm Lot 59 harvests seasonal produce including organically grown salad mixes, bok choi, squashes, pumpkins, tomatoes, peppers, kale, eggplant, okra, oranges, guava, pomegranates, rosemary, basil, thyme, lemongrass, and mint. This urban farm works with local food banks to distribute all of the produce grown on the farm to those experiencing food insecurity. Small, but mighty, this 0.5 acre farm has distributed over 7,000 pounds of locally grown greens, vegetables, and fruit to families and individuals in need.
I am proudly serving on the Board for Farm Lot 59 and ask for your help to support this very important cause. Your contributions will go a long way toward supporting the ongoing efforts of Farm Lot 59 to provide those in need with locally-grown, healthy, organic produce.
