Why are we asking you to donate to Friends of Recreation Park Bandshell?

• We have all been driving by the Recreation Park Bandshell, across the street from Wilson High School, for years.  It seemed like there was almost nothing going on over there.
• Over the last two years, a new volunteer nonprofit group, Friends of Recreation Park Bandshell, has been hosting some great events at the Bandshell!  They have already put on 18 admission free music, theater and community events this year!  
• We have been inspired by how these events have brought the community together.  It has been great to see people coming together in a public park while enjoying music or theater. They picnic, they laugh, they dance, and sometimes they sing along!  We have seen people of all ages, including folks who have been around for as long as us.
• We were so inspired that we have volunteered to sell beverages and take donations in the park to help support the efforts to have live events at the Bandshell. People are friendly, and we have had a lot of fun!
• And, if we are going to ask someone for money, we think it helps if we have also donated.  So, we gave $1,000 to help Friends of Recreation Park Bandshell in its mission to both "Reactivate" the Bandshell with live community events and to eventually work with the City of Long Beach to "Revitalize" the 1929-built Bandshell with repairs and restoration. 
• We would really like to see Friends of Recreation Park Bandshell be able to continue to host free live music and theater events at the Recreation Park Bandshell next year. So, please join us in supporting admission free live music and theater at this wonderful community asset!  (And, we hope that we can get you to attend some of these great events.)
